Old2New Designs started with a discarded hot water tank and has grown into an ongoing passion for this Melbourne-based carpenter.
Stepping outside his traditional training, Luke delights in unusual shapes and unexpected features like circular drawers and curved corners. He calls his furniture style industrial art deco and, with a fine eye for detail, he uses a range of materials and scraps from construction and demolition sites to create geometric forms.
Old2New Designs stands out in a crowded furniture market and brings a sense of fun to practical pieces. Coffee tables, side tables, lamps and portable storage can be made to order, or new pieces can be co-designed and then made. Luke is a qualified carpenter and is happy to discuss larger projects and commercial fit-outs.
Upcycling requires imagination. Young, inventive designers like Luke Neil are definitely bringing more personality and individuality to the Australian furniture market.
